Is the item packed?
When customers book online self-service, they agree that certain additional charges may apply if the booking needs to be changed, the parcel details are incorrect, the goods are unsuitable, or delivery events create extra work. Surcharge amounts can be subject to VAT where chargeable and should be reviewed alongside the online service terms before booking.

Cancellation and Booking Changes

A shipment cancellation requested for personal reasons or an incorrect booking may attract a GBP 10 charge, and cancellation is only possible before collection has taken place.

Incorrect Weight or Dimensions

If the entered weight or dimensions are lower than the measured shipment details, an additional charge can apply for the corrected chargeable weight or dimensions, plus GBP 10 per item. Oversized parcels may also attract further charges.

Prohibited Online Goods

If a parcel contains goods that are not allowed through online self-service and the shipment must be returned, the customer may be charged return shipping plus an additional GBP 180 charge.

Failed Collection or Delivery

A failed collection can attract GBP 10 for each unsuccessful collection attempt. Failed delivery can attract GBP 10 per attempt up to three attempts, after which return shipping charges may apply.

Customs, Duties, Taxes, and Storage

If the receiver fails or refuses to pay customs duties, taxes, or storage charges, those costs may be passed back to the sender, along with an administration charge of GBP 20.

Additional Handling, Address Corrections, and Returns

Additional handling can apply to unsuitable packaging, tubes, oversized parcels, heavy parcels, wooden or metal outer packaging, and similar handling issues. Address corrections may attract GBP 11, while returned shipments may attract GBP 10 plus return shipping costs.

Questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this service.

Why can surcharges apply to online self-service bookings?
Surcharges can apply when a booking is cancelled or changed, parcel details are incorrect, goods are unsuitable, collection or delivery fails, customs charges are unpaid, or the shipment needs extra handling or return movement.
What happens if my parcel weight or dimensions are wrong?
If the parcel is measured as heavier or larger than entered, additional chargeable weight or dimension costs can apply, together with a per-item correction charge.
Can prohibited online goods create extra costs?
Yes. Goods that are not allowed through online self-service may need to be returned, and return shipping plus an additional charge can apply.
What if nobody is available for collection or delivery?
Failed collection or delivery attempts can attract additional charges. Repeated failed delivery attempts may lead to the shipment being returned at extra cost.
How can I reduce surcharge risk?
Pack correctly, enter accurate weight and dimensions, check that the item is allowed online, use complete addresses, keep the receiver informed, and review customs responsibilities before booking.
